Ernest Hemingway was always equipped with a notebook and pencil (as we all should be!), and enjoyed writing in cafés (and later retreated to his bedroom in Key West, Florida, with a typewriter situated on top of a cluttered bookcase he deemed his "work desk"). Charles Dickens preferred his familiar desk and chair at home, and even had them shipped to him when he planned to be away for a long period of time. It has been said that Agatha Christie sat in her bathtub while crafting the ingenious stories we marvel at today.
Whether you prefer a beloved piece of furniture like Dickens, or a specific spot like Christie, or a type of setting aesthetic like Hemingway, your favorite writing location is your favorite for a reason. Whether you need something around you to get the creative juices flowing, or you need to be in a secluded area alone with your thoughts, there is a method to the madness.
I'd love to hear about your favorite writing spots and why you prefer that environment above all else!
